4 Scarborough Aces set to compete for the Canadian Classics 2025 Tour to England, UK.

Congratulations to the four Scarborough Aces athletes on their selection for the Canadian Classics team; Erin Risto (2025 – Present), Chelsea Brathwaite (2021 – 2024), Krista Kent (2022 – Present), and Geneviève Promesse (2023 – Present). The 16-day tour kicked off last weekend with athletes arriving in England, UK and being welcomed immediately into the Classics squad.

The players leaving Ontario for the United Kingdom are preparing to play three matches while abroad. The first is on August 13, 2025, 7:30 PM, kicking off at North Bristol RFC.

Named to the starting team are prop Kent and inside centre Promesse, who exclaims, “I’m looking forward to playing rugby overseas, making new friendships on the team, the post game socials with the other teams, and exploring the scenic views!

Match 1 August 13, 2025 v. North Bristol Ladies 7:30 PM (2:30 PM ET) in Bristol, England.
Match 2 August 17, 2025 v. Stirling County RFC 5:00 PM (12:00 PM ET) in Stirling, Scotland.
Match 3 August 22, 2025 v. West Park Leeds RUFC 5:00 PM (12:00 PM ET) in Leeds, England.

Brathwaite, ready to act as a finisher for Match 1, says, “I hope to continue playing as a Lock while on tour, but I am ready to play where the squad needs me”. Risto finished their first season with the Scarborough Aces this summer and is entering their 30th playing year of rugby. Their experience and energy will be no match for the North Bristol Ladies squad.

The tour is much more than just a playing opportunity; the team is also thrilled to support Team Canada in person at the 2025 Rugby World Cup. When asked who they’ll be cheering for while watching the World Cup live, Chelsea confidently explained, “It’s simple…Canada. Thankfully I have been watching the team change and grow over the years and there’s something about THIS national team that is really special right now. [I] hope the team shows up to their fullest potential during the world cup, because the top of the podium is definitely calling their names this year”.

For many of the Aces’ teammates, this is their first Classics tour, and as a club, we couldn’t be prouder to cheer on these incredible women representing our country overseas.

This will be my first classics tour. Which truly has its own excitement to it, of new opportunities in rugby continuing to present itself to me.” says Chelsea, one of the original Scarborough Aces athletes from our inaugural season in 2021.

Krist Kent is returning to the Classics squad after their debut in 2024, when the Canadian team hosted New England Nor’Easters on home grounds, Fletcher’s Fields. Kent is no rookie when it comes to touring, they are often representing their hometown Scarborough across the globe, frequenting on rugby tours as often as possible.

Good luck and a huge congratulations to each of you! Scarborough is bursting with pride at your continued accomplishments. Keep making us proud!
